My Father's Retirement Ranch was pleased to support Ranch Participates in "Bluegrass Festival"
My Father's Retirement Ranch was pleased to support the "Four Corner States Bluegrass Festival and Fiddle Championship" at the Wickenburg Rodeo Grounds over the weekend of Nov 13-15.  In addition to manning a booth at the festival, the Ranch marketing team also put together an act to compete in the "Specialty Vocals Duo" portion of the festival, delivering an inspiring rendition of "Shenandoah" and a toe-tappin' favorite "Way Out Wickenburg Way".  A fun filled word search was also distributed at the event, and participants were challenged to find 20 musical terms used to describe the Ranch.  To try your hand at the word search, Click Here

Four more homes almost ready!
Reserve Yours TODAY!

I am so excited to announce that our brand new Ranchitos are almost ready! As you may know, construction started nearly two years ago, and was put on hold when the economy slowed down. Requests for these delightful attached homes have started streaming in again, so we jump-started the project in May of 2009. Progress was fast and furious, and we are now on schedule to have Ranchitos move-in-ready in September!

Absolutely delightful!! Simple, ranch-style living offers two bedroom, two bath homes with 1000sq/ft of comfortable living space with full kitchen, washer and dryer. At the Ranch, you can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing you are in good company, and a helping hand is always ready. And with no buy-in or community fees, there is just one low monthly payment which includes utilities, maintenance, and grounds keeping. Housekeeping and dining services are available a la carte.

If you are waiting for a two bedroom option at the Ranch, make sure to take a look at these delightful new units. As an added bonus, if you hurry, you can have your pick of the litter!

Wickenburg, Arizona Wins Honors as a 2009 Top Western Town by True West Magazine

Back in 1969, the Santa Fe Railroad stopped running to Wickenburg, AZ. It was the end of an era, and could have meant the end for the historic 1895 depot. But the locals said, “Not in this town.”

That’s why Wickenburg is #8 among True West Magazine’s 2009 Top Ten True Western Towns. Wickenburg has received recognition as a Top 10 True West Town for three years in a row. Cheyenne, Wyoming won the top award.

The Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce, Town of Wickenburg, and late citizens Vi and George Wellik helped secure the depot and refurbished it to its yellow and red glory. Today, the depot still stands in its original design, no modifications, and houses the Chamber of Commerce. And the Wellik Foundation—which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2008—continues to be a key contributor to the town’s preservation efforts.

Others do their part. M3 Companies own Heritage Square and the building which houses the Gold Nugget Art Gallery which is the Town’s oldest building. Jim Corbet owns the 2-story brick Hassayampa building, formerly the Vernetta Hotel on Frontier Street. And the downtown is into the final year of a three-year revitalization plan, putting utilities underground and pedestrian pathways in the alleys. Recently a donation of life-size sculptures by the DeVore Foundation added to the ambiance of the historic downtown, and provides information about early Wickenburg history through the sculptures and vocal information.

Wickenburg celebrates its history in other ways. The Gold Rush Days & Rodeo celebrated its 60th year in 2008; Fiesta de Septiembre and the Cowboy Christmas Poetry Gathering both marked their 20th anniversaries last year.

“Wickenburg is a wondrous place, where folks take their history seriously,” says True West Executive Editor Bob Boze Bell. “When you’re talking about Western preservation, Wickenburg has to be a big part of the conversation.”

Past top town recipients are St. Joseph, Missouri (2008), Helper, Utah (2007) and Sheridan, Wyoming (2006).

True West editors determine winners for this annual award based on criteria demonstrating how each town has preserved its history through old buildings, museums and other institutions, events, and promotion of historic resources.

The feature includes Towns to Watch for their good works in historic preservation and several legendary locales that folks should know.

True West magazine is in its 56th year of leading the way in presenting the true stories of Old West adventure, history, culture and preservation. For subscriptions and more information, visit http://www.twmag.com or call 888-687-1881.

Going Green

From the Town of Wickenburg Recycling Committee: We are ready to recycle Out Wickenburg Way. Thanks to Tyler Cowles (right) at My Father's Retirement Ranch for helping us pilot this new project. We invite your residents to use the new recycling bags. Then we will come once a week and carry it away to our new recycling center. Recycling is easy and it makes you feel good about turning trash into resources. Based on the success at The Ranch, we will offer it throughout the community. When it comes to making our community a better place, there's almost no place better than Wickenburg. So thanks for helping by rounding up your recyclables.

Seasons Change, Life Changes

As the seasons change around us, I am gently reminded that we go through changes of season in our lives as well. Just as the warmer temperatures prompt new growth in the Spring, so, the cooler nights of Fall prompt a flurry of falling leaves, and we'll understand that autumn has arrived. Each season is marked with distinct characteristics which set it apart from the other times of the year, and seasons in our lives are marked with periods of joy, transition, celebration, loss, even adventure.

Helping People Enjoy Life

My hope is that you are enjoying a season of health and prosperity with plenty of opportunity to enjoy the people and activities that are important to you. And that's why we do what we do. Our family thrives on helping people enjoy life. We understand that the path is not always sunshine and flowers, so we are ready to offer a helping hand when you are ready to embrace it. We are here to take care of the cooking and cleaning, maintenance and yard work, so you have time for the things you really enjoy doing.

Winds of Change

Whatever your current season, it is important to keep in mind that the winds can change unexpectedly at times, so it's always a good idea to know your options for the future. We understand that there is a delicate balance between preserving independence and maintaining quality of life. The Ranch offers a wide variety of options to meet you in whatever season you are experiencing. With accommodations ranging from totally Independent Living with available services to licensed Assisted Living, we look forward to helping you find the perfect fit as you prepare for your next season in life.

Closer Look

Take a closer look at what The Ranch has to offer you. I am confident that you will like what you see. I am available to talk through the options with you, just swing by or give me a call at 928-684-5925. I look forward to working with you and your loved ones to find the best possible fit at My Father's Retirement Ranch.
